I knew I would have one someday when I saw the 1987 Model on display at the local Cadillac dealers show room. The price for a new one was out of my range. I put the thought of owning one out of my mind for a year or so until I saw one on a used car lot and that started me thinking, maybe I could buy a used one in the next year or so. I started looking, (not very aggressively) at Cadillac dealers and popular used car lots. I looked at several 1987 ,1988 and 1989 I could not believe how bad the condition of these expensive automobiles were and how people could do that to their investments In the spring of 91 I saw a bright red 1988 with hard top parked a Rockford Auto Auction. I checked to see if going to be Auction off and found out and employee was going to sell it for his neighbor who bought it for his wife. She said it was to small and could not operate the top. The car was in excellent condition with about 12,000 miles. I took it for a test drive and the rest is history.
I now have 140,000 miles on the car and still do well at shows, these cars will last a lifetime if you care for them properly.
I have replaced tires, battery, AC compressor, alternator convertible top (changed color from black to camel). Last year I upgraded to 16 inch chrome wheels and tires, new radiator and all new engine gaskets. Not bad for a 31 year old car. Like many Allante owners I only drive the car in the summer months.
Our motto is (It’s not the car it’s the people) I think it’s the car too it’s great.
